Arboriculture Services

Our experience in consulting arboriculture includes working at various sized consulting firms and municipal tree permitting. Our adoration and fascination with trees informs everything we do. Trees are so cool! We like to involve our clients in tree assessments as much as possible in order to help get them educated and invested in the issues affecting their trees. If you are someone who wants to prioritize tree protection and learn more about your trees, check out our consulting services below.

Tree Risk Assessment

From concept planning to final inspections, Branching Out is experienced in helping clients meet municipal tree requirements for development.

We are eager to work on projects where tree retention is a priority. The best way to plan for successful tree retention is to engage and arborist early. This way the trees with the best retention outcome can be identified and protection measures made clear so you can plan around them.

Impact Assessment

If you’ve got a tree that you’re concerned about, or you want to apply for a tree cutting permit, our staff will complete an assessment of the tree(s) in question and provide a detailed report with our findings.

Our assessments are made following the International Society of Arboriculture’s Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) methods, as well as any additional requirements your municipality may have.

If your municipality has a Tree Bylaw and a tree on your property has been damaged by human means, you may be required to hire an arborist to complete an impact assessment.

At Branching Out, we have extensive experience with Tree Bylaw infractions and can help you navigate your City’s requirements. See our FAQ page for more information on impact assessments.

Landscaping Services

At Branching Out, we approach landscaping a little differently. We might be the horticulture experts, but you are the expert of your space. Our work is guided by the 3R’s proposed by Cree scholar Shawn Wilson in Research is Ceremony: respect, reciprocity and relationality. These values are applied to our interactions with other people as well as with the Land and the more-than-human world. In order to live these values, we slow down our work and start with relationship building. A collaborative and educational approach helps ensure long-term success in the landscape. If this approach resonates with you, please review our landscaping services below.

Do you want to live the fantasy of having a personal gardener? With our collaborative landscape design package you get to work side-by-side for the ultimate tailored gardening experience. We will do an initial consultation (either in person or online) and an initial co-gardening session. Once we’ve spent some time getting to know each other and your space, we will come up with a plan to address your unique needs and budget. With this package we will work together to design and implement your garden.

Garden Check-Up
